Every once in awhile you see something that takes you aback and you think, Hmmm… That’s interesting… Seen today on “O” and 16th at 10:30am: A little old man sitting alone at an outdoor cafe table, dressed in a red-checkered suit, wearing an ENORMOUS plush Uncle Sam hat.
Huh. Interesting.

On the way to work this morning Charity and I saw a tennis ball drop straight out of the sky into the middle of the street. And I thought, Hmmm…that’s interesting.

I’ve seen that man!!! He is on “O” Street frequently dressed up in wacky attire always with some funny hat.
Renae, if you encounter any frogs coming out of the sky maybe then you should worry. Did you catch the tennis ball?

On Saturday, I saw a older man at the corner of 16th and O wearing a sweatshirt that was the (headache-inducingly bright) color of a tennis ball. And, as C&C Music Factory once stated, all I could say was “Hmmmm…”

Hah! I’m laughing at the thought of you two, staring open-mouthed at a bouncing green ball in the middle of 8th Street. (So THAT’S where Charity is today! Work!)
Joie, I’m glad you’ve seen him, too. I began to wonder if he was doing promotional work for some downtown restaurant. But now I’m wondering it he also owns a bright green sweatshirt (think so, Jason?).

Assuming it’s the same man…he has been wearing crazy hats for years. I first saw him on the bus four or five years ago wearing a hat with altogether TOO many flowers on it, and continued to see him around downtown for awhile after that. Hadn’t seen him in some time, nice to know that he’s still alive and kickin’.

a few weeks ago, i saw a woman holding a large trash bag. that’s not weird.
it was weird because she was holding a large trash bag while yelling passionately at a light pole.

Rebecca, I love that man! Ok, well I’ve never has a conversation with him so I’m probably exaggerating (sp?)… I used to work in a firm on 13th and O, and we watched him walk by every nice day with some new crazy hat atop his head. He makes me smile :)

How have I lived in Lincoln for almost 14 years and never known The Crazy Hat Man? Someone needs to share such things… “The Guidebook to Offbeat Lincoln Attractions.”

when the storm passed through here around 7p (the first one) there was a kid with a red hooded sweater roller skating down the street as it poured and the wind just pushed him along. before that ‘nae and i had gone to geno’s and saw an hispanic clown get into a hooptie. ;)

What’s a hooptie?
charity May 30, 2004 3:05 PM
“Hooptie” – from urbandictionary.com:
(Hoop-D) A term for ANY big, long AMERICAN automobile, preferably a GM car (Cadi, Chevy etc); MUST have tinted windows so the cops can’t see what your smokin, MUST have a system, MUST have rims that cost more than the car itself.

Thanks for asking, B… I had some idea but wasn’t sure.

No problem – I’m not afraid of my urban ignorance. :)
