WOOHOOOOOO! Lord of the Rings rocked tonight!!!!! 11 for 11 wins. Simply fabulous. Here’s to our “friends” PJ, Fran, Philippa, Howard, Annie, Liv, Ian and the Hobbits on a fantastic evening!!! Something tells me the LOTR post Oscar parties will be quite the festivities…
Okay. Enough of the jumping up and down and cheering for my favorite fantastical trilogy. Peter Jackson deserved all he received tonight.
And the LOTR fan put her head on her pillow, closed her eyes and sighed, a gentle smile crossed her lips as her mind drifted to off to the lands of Lothlorien and Rivendell…

lotr…yawn…did you know that after coming out of chapel today there was a helicopter flying about 50 feet over the chapel lawn and they were throwing candy? i got a 3 musketeers. apparently, it’s a little covenant publicity stunt to get people to apply for the talent show called ‘a mountain affair’. back to the oscars i guess.

LotR: RotK–11
Master & Commander–2
Findig Nemo–1
We did alright I guess!
I guessed three out of the four acting awards correctly…
Same as you Mrs. Tredway… Except for I was going by the SAG awards, and guess Johnny Depp instead of Sean Penn for Best Actor. All the buzz was that he and Bill Murray had split the vote.

How can I ever forget to spell “Finding” with an “n”?!?
rt Mar 1, 2004 9:38 PM
that’s okay… “findig” just sounds like you’ve got a cold. : )
lindsay Mar 1, 2004 10:15 PM
“i have a cold…why’d you have to get daisies? i love daisies. they’re so happy.”
name the quote.

by the way, taylor, you can totally call me rebecca… mrs. tredway gives me flashbacks to my days as a student teacher (some good, some not!).

andrew, the helicopter was actually there to pick you up (think mel gibson in conspiracy theory). but they saw all the other students and figured they had missed their moment. sorry. but way to go on the three musketeers bar (probably poisoned, but oh well).

you’ve got mail?
bethany Mar 1, 2004 11:30 PM
“i’m sorry, why are you here again?”
“i thought we could be friends.”
“oh.”
i love you’ve got mail, and i’m not ashamed of it. :)
i’m really happy for rotk except i do think that it did not deserve best score…rotk’s was imho the weakest of the three and cold mountain’s score put it to shame.
but, what are ya gonna do? whatevs, as they say.

soundtracks… i don’t know much about the nominated ones, but i do know that i’m dying to get my hands on the master and commander sountrack. it was excellent!
speaking of you’ve got mail… any recommendations of good chick flicks to watch during our youth group girls’ overnighter (in april)? we need very safe movies (that have little questionable content), but girly movies at the same time. suggestions anyone?
lindsay Mar 2, 2004 10:52 AM
the safest movies always seem to be princess movies:
-princess bride
-ever after
-sleeping beauty
-the princess diaries
but what about jane austen?
-emma
-sense and sensibility
and then, there are always oldies (which could be considered boring by some):
-trouble with angels
-the old parent trap
-bringing up baby
-philadelphia story
is ‘return to me’ safe? what about ‘sleepless in seattle?’
i can’t remember…

‘what a girl wants’ is actually a fairly enjoyable (if not totally mindless) newer younger girl chick flick. plus it’s got colin firth to keep the older ladies happy. ;)
bethany Mar 2, 2004 5:19 PM
oops, that should be that it IS totally mindless. ah well. you probably guessed that from the fact that it stars amanda bynes and is a chick flick.

More movies for your youth group:
Miss Congeniality
Two Weeks Notice
Sweet Home Alabama
The Wedding Planner
Notting Hill
While You Were Sleeping
Freaky Friday
Return to Me (I think it’s totally safe, then again, I’m a bit liberal when it comes to movies)
bethany Mar 4, 2004 7:02 PM
Sweet Home Alabama has a whole subplot about her friend being gay…don’t know if that would be an issue with jr high parents.
And Matthew McCaunaghey (still have no clue how the heck to spell that) accidentally glues a stone penis to his hand in The Wedding Planner (and J.Lo is in it, so that’s offensive enough on it’s own. Zing!)
sarah Mar 5, 2004 12:14 AM
agreed that any j.lo movies are not allowed…on penalty of death! mwah ha…
rt Mar 5, 2004 10:05 AM
i like sweet home alabama okay now… but was really surprised at some of the language in it when i first saw it. (i have HUGE issues with a guy calling a girl “bitch”.)
