Me: Jeremy, remind me who won the Pork contest this year?
Jeremy: David Houfek
Me: [to self] And the Houkeks won Cornhole, too? Watch it, Houfek family! 2019 is gonna get real.
So basically the Houfeks won Camp Redeemer. Amy Lockwood mentioned she might work on a pork recipe this next year and I plan to build my own Cornhole game and practices shall be held in sunshine or in rain. Watch out, David and Nicole! And oh my goodness, I would like another helping of the amazing pulled pork served Saturday night. YUM.
For the third year straight we made our way south to Camp Redeemer for a weekend full of fun!
This one. She gives me a nudge in the costume department and I can’t help but join her in some sort of crazy scheme. All the elf love for Redeemer tonight. Yummy treats, great company, and as always, a hilarious white elephant tradition was upheld. We now have a literal white elephant in the house. Maybe he’ll show up on the DPP. You never know.
Last weekend we drove up to Branched Oak and… ahhhhh… the light gleaming off the water immediately filled my bucket. I don’t know why water makes me so relaxed and content and happy, but it does. We joined friends from church at the lake for the dinner and went home as the sun was beginning to set. Almost all the rest of them stayed overnight in tents. Which is SO cute. I am so happy for them and their adorable tents. I thought about my joy for them all the way home to my air conditioned house with locked doors and a deliciously soft and thick queen-sized mattress. I digress.
The Creagers’ Life Group—what Redeemer calls our small groups—has gone camping for the past several years and it was sweet fun to join them for several hours. Photographic evidence of fun follows:
We joined friends at Branched Oak last weekend and, as always, the setting sun inspired me. The subject sitting in the light, by virtue of his leash and a well-placed tree, was of the canine variety. Cooper posed nicely, and so did our lovely human friend Dejana.
More images coming soon.
Here’s a little peek into our in-town retreat last Saturday. It was a lovely, encouraging, restful and rich day as we spent time with God and each other. There was a lot I didn’t capture with my camera, but here’s what I did manage to preserve…
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light,
Radiant beams from
Thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
I’m so grateful for a Christmas Eve Service that takes us out of the hustle and bustle of the present-prep and cookie-baking to let us pause and think about Jesus’ birth.
After the Christmas Eve Service at Redeemer I left my camera at my in-laws’ house, thus the lateness in posting my DPPs.

What a sweet night at Redeemer. We welcomed the Moyers into membership at church and their kiddos were baptized.
