I made an agreement with myself that I’d only buy regular coffee—and then spruce it up with Splenda and creamer and various flavors found in free shakers at coffee shops. I promptly forgot my agreement with myself and have enjoyed numerous lattes since.
But today’s drink, an Espresso Truffle (mmm), was completely legit and myself couldn’t get mad at me for this one. Hello, sweet gift card/birthday present. You provided guiltless caffeinated pleasure on a windy and cold December afternoon. Thank you, dear giver of aforementioned card. And thank you, Starbucks, for not carrying “rainbow” cookies, because then I didn’t have to share my present with my daughter. (Kidding, kidding. But not really.)

I don’t know how many times I made that exact agreement with myself. Just imagine my glee/horror when I moved into a building that had a Starbucks on the ground floor, tempting me every morning!
Thank goodness for skinny vanilla lattes…

I rarely frequent Starbucks, but today as I was driving past one, my subconscious took over and suddenly I was pulling up to the drive-thru window and paying for a salted caramel hot chocolate.

Fun fact I learned at a breakfast this morning: one packet of sugar (my best guess is a teaspoon) has only ten calories. I understand diabetics might have different standards, but for those dieting, I dare you to admit the taste of non-sugar sweeteners and the ten-calorie free pass is worth it. Just saying.
