Judging from my feelings of being cooped up, one would imagine I’ve been snowed in for longer than two days. I made a call of desperation to my dad this morning (aka The Man With a Truck) regarding outings he and my mom planned to make. The message was something like this, “PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU!”
The result was that the Runza cheeseburger I had tasted more delectable than it had any right to be. Seriously, it was perfectly salted and peppered. The fries were darn tasty, too. The other patrons looked like survivors released from home prisons as well; everyone was layered and wrapped in scarves, hats and earmuffs.
After that I was allowed a brief run to the grocery store. Though I felt like walking through the store aisles the same way I’d window shop at the mall, I tried to keep the pace moving in order to get out to the car where I discovered my child pitching a fit over the smallest puncture wound ever seen on a thumb. That one has quite a penchant for the dramatic, I’d say.
These photos don’t do justice to the amount of snow on the ground. Truly, it’s almost impossible for your average sedan to get through neighborhood streets. Jason couldn’t get out our alley this morning and another car was trapped on the street out front. Scooping the front walk reduced me to tears. Snow: 1, Rebecca: 0. It was just so deep and so heavy that I couldn’t get the whole thing cleared. Jeremy, my heroic husband, completed the job. I tell you, we’re not a power couple when it comes to physical competitions. One of us has no hands and the other has RA. Have mercy! (Actually, God is merciful. I fully believe he gave us a small yard for just this reason.)
Snow, snow, snow. I’m still not tired of it, but I will be glad when I can get my car safely onto main arterials.

It’s cruel and unusual punishment to describe a Runza lunch in such mouth-watering detail when you know a pregnant woman who lives far, far away from Runza will read it. ;)

I’ve been by your house twice with the Suburban in the past 24 hours. Next time I’m picking you up and taking you out. How about Super Target tomorrow? :) I need Stacey’s Pita Chips for Christmas party snacks.

B, are you coming here for Christmas? If so, you should let me treat you to Runza.
Jen, yes, please!

Jen, would that Suburban have room for another carseat? I am desperate enough that I have no shame in begging to come along too!

We’ve had 15 inches of snow here beginning last night & ending this afternoon…I saw a cardinal stop at my feeder and it was BREATHTAKING! White for miles (it seems that way, anyway) around and that gorgeous, cheerful spot of red!!! It was delightful!

Okay, I can’t believe I’m admitting this right now, but for the first time in my life I think I’m preferring summer over winter!!! Arrgggghhh…what’s happened to me?? Day after day right now, I am seriously longing for the pool and warmth and even (gasp!) hot weather. And Bec, this post about the loads of snow dumped on NE only confims to desire for warmer months. Seriously. :)

Runza! Now I miss Nebraska. I guess I’ll have to move back.

Livia, love the name. ; ) You are only the third Livia I’ve known. Care to share your middle name?

I like snow to fall on Christmas Eve and be in postcards. And while I’m much more of a winter enthusiast than summer (I literally can melt here, and it’s not even the technical ‘south’!), I really wish snow would learn to fall beautifully on A) houses b) trees and c) grass… none of this sidewalk and road stuff!! :)
