It’s a snow day in Lincoln, Nebraska—not because of the snow that’s already accumulated, but because of the snow that is expected to fall today. The announcement of a snow day is STILL exciting for me even though I’ve been out of school for almost 13 years now. I think there’s a collective, community anticipation of fun when school is called off for the neighborhood kids and I’m sure we’ll see them out in force today, making snowmen and sledding down the few hills we have in this flat part of the country.
Livia and I hit the grocery store yesterday for a few staples and aside from a library run this morning, we’re prepared to enjoy a homebound Friday. I’ve already promised her adventures both outdoors and in. As long as everyone gets healthy here, we’ll be doing fine.
What are your plans for today and tomorrow? Does anyone have big Valentines plans?

My Dad and sister are coming in late tonight, so Mike and I are having a romantic dinner at home…late, after the kiddos are in bed.
I’m making Calamari, Rich and Charlie’s Salad (it’s in the new Zion cookbook – hint, hint), breadsticks, chicken parmesan and key lime cheesecake. Should be yummy! It’s like having Olive Garden in my very own dining room. Oh, yes, and a nice bottle of vino.

Today’s plans have shifted–instead of taking two kids to a dentist’s appointment, I am taking a different kid to the GI doc for an endoscopy, because he can’t swallow anything more than a trickle of saliva.
Fun snow day, eh? :)
For Valentine’s Day evening, I am hoping for a Valentino’s pizza (preferably Special) at home and a romantic snuggly movie with my hubby.

I HAD great intentions of mailing my pile of packages at the post office, but … I took one look outside and said “forget it.”
And of course my V-Day will be mostly spent with cute children and then watching some BBC Brideshead Revisited after the kids are (hopefully) asleep.

We entered into the foray of school Valentine’s parties yesterday (thankfully a positive experience).
Tomorrow we’ll have a fun family breakfast and then a friend is having my girls and I over for a Valentine’s Tea. Andy has to work tomorrow night so we went out for breakfast today instead of a big date tomorrow. (The price you pay for working in the restaurant industry. LOL.)
