Creativity

How have you recently expressed yourself creatively?

What were some ways you used to be creative, perhaps during your childhood/youth, that you don’t engage in anymore?

Would you like to revisit those old creative expressions someday? How is someone close to you—a spouse, friend, child—creative in a way you are not?

Thanks for playing along, everyone! I think sewing is so cool… There are so many possibilities for gifts, fun toys, useful items, etc, when you can sew.

Beside photography, I find myself enjoying all sorts of kid activities. Basically, if I was left to myself, I’d sit down and color all the live long day. Livia doesn’t enjoy coloring much, though, so we create art by stamping, painting, cutting and gluing. I wish I had many more hours for creative projects… I’d especially like to pour myself into writing; for now I’m in a holding pattern in that area. I write in my head all the time but rarely do my internal compositions see the light of day.

Someday I hope to get back into theater again. You couldn’t keep me from performing as a kid.

Finally, I really admire my husband’s creativity in web design. He’s amazing with color and has quite an eye for detail (kind of necessary in his line of work, it comes naturally to him which totally impresses me). I’m also floored by Livia’s imagination. She sees worlds I cannot see and lives in richness because of it.

I’ve been writing songs, and I’m putting together a CD of my stuff.

Michelle, on the other hand, loves to sew, and she totally rocks at it.

I have been sewing up a storm lately. We are tired of all the clutter and TOYS around here, so I am making the kids some things for Christmas and we are going with a “family” gift for Christmas (WII!!!!!!!!). The girls are getting stuffed dolls with yarn hair and pretty frocks and nickers on and Pete is getting a reversible Jedi Master/Darth Vader robe. All three kiddos are also getting pajamas for Christmas Eve.

I’m also making a swing jacket. It’s made out of teal (love it!) corduroy. It’s almost done…

Does making an ark carved out of soap count? :) I think I end up doing a lot of creative projects for Sunday School, and this week I’m planning on doing a fun project this week with the 3-year-old I watch, that being ironing some pretty fall leaves between wax paper to hang on the wall. Also fun? Paper lanterns!

I used to paint a lot and had a lucrative clay creature business during my grade school years. I miss the painting, less so the clay. :)

I too have been sewing a good bit. For the last several years I’ve tried to do as many handmade gifts as possible. We’ll see if that happens again this year…

I did used to write poetry a lot more, especially in college. And I do miss it. I always wished I could draw or paint well, but I am now resigned to the fact that any kind of visual art I do will just have to be photos.

Husband Jeff has this great knack for writing good poems that actually rhyme. Mine never do. And my sister-in-law loves to scrap book and make cards, but my brain doesn’t really get in to that.

    Photos, blog, journal.

Nope. I was too much of a perfectionist to be creative as a child. Kinda sad huh?

Charity paints and I think that’s pretty cool.
