The news of Heath Ledger’s death is tragic and shocking. This actor was incredibly talented, full of potential, and chose unique roles at every turn. His smile lit up the big screen and warmed millions of girls’ hearts in 10 Things I Hate About You and A Knight’s Tale. (Haven’t seen them? They’re both fun flicks.)
What a crying shame…

You know, Rebecca, I think we saw “10 Things…” together when it was in the theaters in like 1997 or 1998! I remember that you were back in Lincoln (can’t remember if you were married or not yet) and we thought it was going to be a dorky, teen comedy. But we were both pleasantly surprised at how sweet and clever it was!
Such a shame about his death…

Sweet and clever because it was… Shakespeare! He was playing the role of Petrucchio from The Taming of the Shrew and did a fantastic job of it. The rewrite of the Bard’s famous play was brilliant. It’s sad to see such an influential young actor meet an early demise. Someone on NPR was commenting how well he played the “tortured soul” role in his movies.

ahhh, that’s right, I forgot that it was a rewrite of The Taming of the Shrew!

He was def-finately better in The Four Feathers….such a wonderful actor, who was on his way to greatness, but behind the scenes a very lost and tortured man. I pray for his family and his daughter. What sadness death brings when the dead are lost.
