Up until now I have been the go-to girl for useless pop culture trivia. Though a bit ashamed of my knowledge and interests-which-bordered-on-obsession, I still subscribed to Entertainment Weekly (the literary equivalent of Skittles, a sweet treat by any account) and read up daily on entertainment tidbits from various websites. I can’t say I was obsessed with pop culture–I barely delved into this world compared to many other bloggers out there–but I knew what actor was being considered for which big role and who was dating/married to/divorced from whom in the celebrity biz.
I no longer receive Entertainment Weekly (after eating Skittles for awhile you start to crave a hardy bread pudding) and furthermore, we no longer have cable tv. In fact, we don’t get any channels at all and we probably won’t until I become desperate for PBS for Liv, and make a move to install an antenna.
Guess how much I miss my pop culture fix? Not much.
Ask me that question this fall when the new shows premiere and I have no clue what folks are talking about. Ask me that question again in January when LOST starts up and I’m certain you’ll find me weeping in my Rice Krispies. (Either that or I’ll be sitting on your couch, enjoying your cable subscription.)

or watching LOST on abc.com…that’s what i did this past season, being one without television myself…you have to wait until the day after airing, but it works…

You can also download a number of new shows from iTunes. Or TVtorrents.com. Or if you have that special show, you can get together with friends and family to watch it weekly.
I haven’t really done the torrents / iTunes thing as I have cable, but in the past I’ve enjoyed Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer on a weekly basis with friends and family. A great way to spend an hour of your week!

You won’t be watching it from our couch! :P We’ve been using TVtorrents.com to watch “House,” and have just downloaded season 1 of “24” (we’re waiting to start it till we don’t have any pressing agendas).
PS — Jones and I miss our neighbors! :P We’re having fun with the Allens, but he’s been crabby and homesick — so is his mama. Hope you’re enjoying the Mirons ;)

We don’t watch tv either. But I *DO* subscribe to US Weekly (it’s been my Christmas present a few years in a row now).
I had no idea there were tv torrents. I don’t know or care about any current shows, but are there old shows on available for download too?

We don’t have TV either. You can watch a lot of things online, really. I know you can watch all the episodes of the first season of “30 Rock” on nbc.com (which I would recommend doing).
