Devastation…

This is surreal.

I’ll upload photos and post more after I’ve gotten some lunch and some rest.

PS: All the houses on our block are fine. We’re fine. Two firefighters received minor injuries — please pray for them.

Oh no! That makes me so sad! I am glad no one was seriously hurt though and that all the property around was alright. Still, I am so, so sorry.

Wow, that is just… wow. I am so sad for you and your church.

The first church where my father was a pastor had an electrical fire that destroyed the sanctuary. And he was on vacation when it happened.

Hi Rebecca – this is Meg Robison (your Mom’s friend). I just watched the news and heard about Zion. I’m so very sad that this happened to your family’s wonderful church! One reason I loved going there was because the beautiful sanctuary reminded me of the Methodist church I grew up in. I know how strong and cohesive your congregation is — Zion will rise from the ashes even stronger than before! Take care.

Oh Rebecca!! (hugs!) That must have horrifying to watch. All the memories and history. I’m glad the homes weren’t hurt. Praying for your church family as you face tomorrow.

Oh… I’m so sorry for that huge loss for all of you. Places can be replaced, for sure, but there is such sadness in the loss of a meaningful place and space.

    I’m sorry, sorry, sorry.

I’m tearing up again. I am so broken for your loss, but pray in hope that God will bring something beautiful from these ashes.

Honey…now that I’ve seen the pictures taken from your upstairs office, I can understand more of your painful, gut-wrenching phone calls early this am. You have such a merciful heart, watching the fire consume our church truly was horrific. Father, please give my children peaceful sleep tonight. xo Mom

Rebecca, Andrew and I were devastated to hear the news Saturday morning. It’s so surreal that our wedding was there just a few hours earlier. When Karen told me that you watched it burning, I could imagine how heart-wrenching that would be. We stopped by on our way out of town and just seeing what remains of the building, even though it wasn’t in flames anymore, was enough to provoke tears. We know God is good and that such things do not happen apart from his will, but it is a very sad loss. Andrew and I just feel so blessed that our wedding was the last event to take place in Zion.
