I snapped about 20 million photos this morning and thought I had a non-blurry one here. Wrong. Toddlers are busy people… Standing still (“like a statue!” as I always plead with Liv) is seemingly impossible when there’s all sorts of cool activities out there like beating your face with your pigtails and jumping like a frog.

i think the effect of her motion on her sweater is pretty. i also think it shows the reality of a toddler: shifting constantly, always in motion, everything is slightly out of focus except the unchanging things like your mother’s vinyl flooring.

Thanks, Adam. I like how this shot realistically captures Livia in the moment as well. But… it’s not my mother’s vinyl flooring. I picked it out from Home Depot last month (along with the faux brick on the walls — mmm, so very 2006). ; )

not YOUR mother’s flooring, hers! (sigh) clearly, it’s your floor and i do like the design — good buy! :)
but i meant that the static things in life are often what children remember. i clearly remember the linoleum pattern from the house on king’s view drive. it’s those objects and backgrounds that little eyes see day after day and don’t really recognize them for what they are, but they meld into a comforting background and become a familiar pattern of the place you call home.
i think babies (and toddlers) are always being whisked around to places and situations they cannot understand. i would think they’d find the unchanging nature of home to be very comforting.
