Repeat to self: My tree is beautiful. My tree is worthy. My tree is… plastic.
I’m a real tree kind of girl. I like tromping in the tree lot (and once in an Oregon forest) to pick out the perfect tree. During our first year of marriage however we were tight on cash, we weren’t going to be in our seminary apartment for the holidays, and we didn’t have much space for a large tree.
Voila, the Walmart tree!
As you can see, it’s quite a bargain. Not to mention flame retardant.
And it’s up, in the Prairie Box, as I type. Let the season begin!

Might I suggest going to Hobby Lobby at the end of January. I got a tree (at 90% off) for $12.99…it IS plastic, but it is SUPER CUTE.
Reasons why there is nothing wrong with a fake tree:
1. I don’t have to worry about my one-year-old (or three-year-old for that matter) drinking the water out of the bottom.
2. No one is allergic to plastic.
3. I don’t have to replace my vacuum cleaner due to ingesting too many needles.

our walmart tree is over five years and going strong. super cheap and very realistic.
only downside is that boy cats like to eat plastic. so jasper (boy cat) eats a fake needle here and there and then gets violently ill and coughs it back up. over and over again. (sigh)
yay walmart tree!
