“I usually hate Jim Carrey.”
Now that’s near to sacrilegious. ;)
bethany Jan 26, 2005 5:24 PM
I’m operating on the assumption that these are all culled from things I’ve seen/watched/read in the recent past, and not just of all time (for the ‘best’ categories)
Last TV: Technically, One Tree Hill, because the tv got left on after Gilmore Girls finished and Lindsay, Elissa, Jenny and I ended up sitting around and mocking it (sorry Rebecca)
Best TV: Alias
Embarrassed to admit I like: Will & Grace (but not too embarassed, because it’s FUNNY and a good show)
Last album: I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning, Bright Eyes
Best album: I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning, Bright Eyes

Last movie: The Closet (French film from 2001)

Last book: As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner
Best book: Walking On Water, Madeleine L’Engle
Next book: Westminster Confession of Faith, Another Country, by James Baldwin, and Blue Like Jazz by some guy whose name escapes me at the moment.
Haley, I really love Joan of Arcadia. I actually don’t find it to be at all sacrilegious – I’ve watched with a fairly critical eye, and I have had very few quibbles with how they present God.

Last movie watched: Wimbledon

Last book completed: Chasing Vermeer, by Blue Balliet (this is a middle-school-age book)

Next book I’d like to read: Eats, Shoots, and Leaves, by Lynne Truss (currently reading, actually; does that count?)
Haley Jan 26, 2005 6:03 PM
Thanks, Bethany. I feel affirmed in my Friday night addiction. I think Joan of Arcadia is a really great show which raises some excellent questions and gets a lot closer to the truth than most other things on TV, but I’ve had one too many people give me the look that says “And now we know you are not truly Reformed,” when I have said I like that show.
And hey, Jeremy, if you like Jim Carrey, you should watch Eternal Sunshine. You will be thrilled to know that he can actually act in addition to his finely-honed skills of acting like a six-year-old. Now I will wait to be struck down by lightning. ;)

Katie, if you liked The Namesake, you should definitely read Interpreter of Maladies. I think it’s better, in many ways. Although I suppose it’s not fair to compare them, since The Namesake is a novel and Interpreter of Maladies is a collection of short stories. But still, it’s a great book.

If I was in Psych 101, like back in high school, I’d do my semester project on public admission of embarrassment. My interest is quite piqued after reading all these reponses!
